Once upon a time, we were “normal”. The Nortons expected the status quo. As it was supposed to be, milestones, sports, driving, and graduations.

That lasted about 11 months.

Fourteen years later, our lives will not follow the typical “boy meets world” storyline. Our script will not follow any typical plot line.

Every day (and night), we work tirelessly to provide Drew with the support he needs to live a happy, healthy, and engaged life. His supporting cast of Mom and Dad is his support in every sense of the word.

Unfortunately, there will be a day when we cannot give Drew all the support he needs to thrive.

Because of that, we have done the conventional in our unconventional world and created a Supplemental Needs Trust for Drew.

As the plot thickens and the years pass, we realize this essential document cannot tell our main character’s whole story.

For this reason, we continue our narrative through planning: planning for housing, healthcare, advocates, and waivers for continued support, as well as Drew’s own goals, dreams, and aspirations, even if they are primarily driven by trains, monster trucks, and self-anointed girlfriends.

In its finality, we want to use our script to share with everyone who may participate in Drew’s movie. The ink will never dry on this screenplay. It will be reworked often, but that is okay because our main character and part-time director is a hard-headed, ever-evolving artist who deserves it.
